PROJECTS
After studying abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland for four months, I was assigned a research paper. My topic was researching how the media in London and Madrid portrayed the independence referendums in Scotland and Catalonia in 2014 and 2017. Because of my connection to my Spanish heritage, it was interesting to research both independence movements and see how the media portrayed each event.

Book Review—Scots and Catalans: Disunion and Union
My study abroad experience in Edinburgh, Scotland was such a unique opportunity where I was given the chance to politically, historically and culturally compare Scotland and Catalonia. In one of my classes taught by Furman University Communication Studies professor, John Armstrong, I was assigned to do a book report on J.H. Elliott's book, "Scots and Catalans: Union and Disunion." In this book, Elliot examines the political, economic, social, cultural and emotional factors that divide both Scots and Catalans by uncovering the similarities and contrasts between both nations across a five-hundred-year period up until present day.

Blog: Around The Burgh
During my four months studying abroad in Scotland, I published my own blog where I posted every two weeks or so. In my blog, I wrote about the weekly adventures with the Furman group and weekend trips I did on my own.
